Holiday Haulin'

23 August 2015

Hi there!
As I mentioned in my Travel Diary I was feeling a little bit spendy and decided to treat myself to a few things, I was on holiday after all!

One of my favourite places that I visited in London was Covent Garden, home to an array of wonderful shops including Laduree and Jo Malone.

My primary reason for visiting Laduree was to pick up some of their famous macarons, as I had never had the pleasure of trying them before. I picked up a selection of classic and seasonal flavoured macarons which came in a lovely 'green napoleon box' to match the stunning Laduree gift bag which they were then placed into. The macarons worked out to about £2 each, which although a little pricey I think was well worth it not only for the luxury assortment we received but also for the wonderful experience we had in store. I also noticed that there was a small tea room above the shop itself which seemed like a wonderful place to have a special afternoon tea and definitely something we would have done if we had more time in London.

On my last day in London I stumbled upon the Jo Malone store simply by chance and was lured in by the wonderful scent. I wasn't planning on buying anything as I had considered the products to be too out of my price range, however after smelling the wonderful 'Sweet Almond and Macaroon' scented candle my mum offered to buy it for me as a special treat. Needless to see it felt like a very luxury purchase and our experience in the store was just wonderful. The candle smells amazing without even having burnt it so I can't wait to post a full review of it.

Additionally, before leaving Italy I was keen to purchase a souvenir of the trip, hence the white Venetian mask, I think this will be a great addition to the collection of mementos on my bedside table.

Last but certainly not least, the beauty related purchases. As a beauty obsessive, you can imagine that some of my first stops in London and Venice were none other than the Selfridges Beauty Hall and Sephora. From Selfridges I purchased a new blender cleanser soap to replace my sample, whilst the magpie in me was drawn towards the unusual Topshop matte metallic nail polish in 'Sixteen Candles'. In Sephora my eye was also drawn towards the brightly packaged 'lotus' eye and face mask, I'm curious to see how well these will actually work, but I shall certainly keep you posted.

I hope you enjoyed this rather rambly post, I'll be back soon with a follow up on some of the items featured.

See you soon!

  4. Aw wow you managed to get some lovely things! I'd love to try Laduree at some point, all the packaging is so beautiful. The Sweet Almond & Macaron candle sounds AMAZING, I think I'd love it. The venetian mask is really beautiful too, reminds me of The Cinderella Story haha.

  5. Those macroons look amazing! I want to try that candle now but I know I'm going to regret the big hope it will create on my purse haha. I really want to go to Sephora but there are none near me! Are they in the UK?

    1. They were so good! I really do love the candle, I'm very precious over burning it to make sure it doesn't tunnel hahaha :) I don't think there are any in the UK at the moment, you can order online and have it shipped which is somewhat pricey, but definitely worthwhile if placing a big order. I bought mine from Sephora in Venice, and there are loads dotted round Europe so it may be worth having a look if you're on holiday. :) xx
